Hey guys, I'm having a problem with my windows 7 install where it gets to the part where it's under "completing installation" and the system just blue screens. I have no idea what this problem is this is a 3 year old system and has been running fine.

I can install windows 10 just fine as well I just get these blue screens on 7 for some reason. I have tried disabling my gpu in the safe mode device manager but it's still not working.

Any help on this would be great never ran into this problem before.

Solution
Hello... Ya sure... sometimes I learn things too... knowing the BSOD moment/message was the key here... I always use basic Dell keyboards for install JOBs... Microsoft and Dell have always got along. B )

Hi Iron, I have installed windows 7 on this board before like a year or two ago and never had this problem. Only seems to be happening after I have installed windows 10 I'm currently looking for the setting which you said about in the bios.

Yeah I am doing a clean install each time this is where I am getting the problem.

To be clear the drives are completely clean and formatted. Only difference is that w10 installs and 7 doesn't.

Now trying a clean install under IDE I'll update in about 10 mins with results.

Like I said it blue screens right at the end of the installation when at the "completing installation" tab. I had windows 10 and I don't like it so I am trying to go back to 7 that is the goal for me.

I have tried using a windows 7 DVD and usb solution from the original disc neither work and I know the usb solution works on other systems because I installed it yesterday on a different PC.

Hello... OH...OK the files are loading... and installation re-boot BSOD.
1) Try installing without a Video card installed if you have MB/CPU/GPU... Windows default video driver problem?
2) Remove media before OS reboot?
3) is your MB BIO's Overclocked? try your MB defaults or standard settings.

Yes, done all of those I removed my 770 and used integrated graphics same problem. Bios on optimized default, no overclock.

the blue screen comes up in a split of a second but I managed to get a picture of it with my phone i'll put it one here to see if it helps.

Hello... nice pic thx... Which WIN 7 version? DL SP1 and use that one from the get go.
4) Do you have the ACHI Sata MB driver DL'd/USB to install? for this mode... when the Win7 Install asks for it?
5) Try clearing your MB BIO's/battery CMOS... maybe WIN 10 has locked your MB?
6) Try different MB BIO's version?

Can you boot into safe mode? sometimes you can find the hardware problem or load a Video driver from there... also you change the registry for ACHI and IDE mode there real fast... if it's the HD communications mode.

Windows 7 install/disc does not ask for a driver I literally get the error every time after "completing installation" I've googled hid class.sys as the problem in the blue screen and now trying to switch to a different keyboard.

My motherboard is a P8Z77VLX btw.

Made the mistake of using a usb 3 port a few years ago and no I didn't this time the install has been either on a USB2 port or with the DVD.

OMG it was actually my keyboard (face palm) I guess windows 7 just doesn't like it :/

Installing now with no problems yet thanks for talking through with it though real champ!
