Hi ;)
I'm happpy user of Corsair Force GS 128 GB SSD (for 3 or even more years, bought it shortly after it's release). Looks like it's still totally fine (no bad sectors, etc), but I wanted to upgrade some old notebook's drive to make it work (at least) sligtly faster. Why not to give it my old SSD and buy myself a new one.

I thought about m2 drives, because I don't need any additional place, wires and PCI-E slots.
I wonder if I can get something like 2x faster (or close to it). I'd like to see some performance boost (I know that it's not gonna be even half as big as change from HDD to SSD, but still - there would be no point in buying something that's not noticeably better)

SATA and PCI-E are also an option (6Gb/s limitation for SATA and need for another empty slot for PCI-E hurts though (literally HOT R9 390 and ASUS Xonar DX does not help))

My motherboard is Z97-A from ASUS. (it has some limitations for m2 drives)
I'm intrested only in 120/128 GB drives (more would be just waste of money, less... well, 90 and maybe even 64 would be enough too but I don't see many drives in this size. Let's just stick to ~120 GB)

About the price... I'd like something adequate to it's price. Definitely not gonna spend much more for a few percents of performance.

Plextor M6e Series 128GB M.2 (PX-G128M6e) looks pretty cool, Samsung SM951-NVMe 128GB PCIe looks even better (but it's not (fully?) suppoted by my MB, at least as far as I know)

As always, sorry for bad English - I can't help it ;)

Honestly, I would not bother getting an m.2 or PCIe drive if its only 128gb. If you do get one, make sure it is much faster than 500MB/s. If it is not, you mine as well get a sata drive because they will run at the same 500MB/s without getting hot from your GPU being so close.

I personally prefer Samsung drives. The 850 Evo is a fantastic budget option and the 850 Pro is great for someone who can appreciate the high quality nand and longer warranty.

Yeah, I want something faster than 500MB/s if possible. Any suggestions of m.2 / PCIe drives ?
Also, why not to bother getting m.2 / PCIe 128 GB drive ?

Kingston HyperX Predator 240GB PCIe (SHPM2280P2H/240G)

If only this one would be available in 120 GB version...
It looks just too sexy.

Yeah, I can get 240 version, but what's the point of spending 100% and use like 25% of it's capacity...

Are there any good m.2/PCIe drives that are available in 120 GB version other than Plextor M6e Series 128GB M.2 (PX-G128M6e)?
Not sure if stores in my country have like very poor offers or there aren't that many non-sata models in that capacity range...

The samsung sm941 & sm951 is available at 128gb capacity
The Samsung 950 Pro (M.2) would still get you 880MB/s even on your m.s slot
Otherwise stick with sata and grab the 850evo, enable rapid mode and blow the 880mb/s out of the water.

Yeah, Samsung SM 951 looks good, NVMe version looks even better. But as far as I know m.2 slot in my MB is incompatibile with this one :(
I can get PCIe adapter, but most of them looks just awful. I know that it shouldn't bother me, but... it does. If I only could get Kingston HyperX Predator (adapter only), it looks just too good.
