Installed new 4GB Ram stick, pc doesn't see it

Solution
Mixing memory kits, regardless of brand or model, is not recommended.

By mixing memory kits together, there may be compatibility issues such as unable to boot or unable to operate at rated specifications.

Each memory kit is thoroughly tested to ensure compatibility within each memory kit. And because the memory manufacturer has not tested the new memory kit with your existing memory kit, they don't guarantee compatibility when multiple kits are used.

Same holds true for singles. Singles are not meant to be combined in multiples.

If you choose to do your own compatibility testing, it may not be very economical to use a trial and error method.
amd cpus HATE mix and match ram; intels are a bit more forgiving but i bet you're in dual channel mode as well.

you can try changing your bios to be single channel. you can swap the open slot the ram is in as well. but its also possible it just won't run right since AMD cpus just hate that mix& match ram combos

I'll try the bios in a sec ty.
Btw what does "mix&match" imply? Do i have to get the exact same Ram sticks for all the slots? Or just the same brand? (say hyperx but not the Blu version, but the Force one instead). Or is there some other specification in the ram sticks that i have to look for to make sure they all match?

mix and match means two or more types/models of ram

you basically need ram IDENTICAL in every way; if you're overclocking AMD cpus get even more sensitive, but even untouched without an overclock they are pretty finicky about the ram you use.

So same make/model and speeds would be ideal. for example you currently have kingston hyperX Blu; 2 sticks of 4gb ram, if you were to add ram you would need, not just 2 more sticks of kingston hyperX blu (of 4gb ram), but you would need 2 sticks with the SAME speed and CAS and ideally model number. so added ram to get to 12 isn't ideal, for an AMD you'd probably be going to 16gb, in order to get 4gb of identical ram into each slot on the motherboard.

AMD cpus are so neurotic about this, that most people tell you just to buy all new ram, to avoid the potentially endless issues you can have with mix&match ram and an amd cpu.
