Better Gaming Rig, Looking for Tips

Hello All!

I don't have much expertise in actually building a computer, despite the fact that I'm an avid PC gamer. Disgraceful I know. I was looking for tips on what to put in my current build to improve my gaming experience overall as well as some general information regarding SLI, refresh rate on monitors, and if overclocking is worth the risks. Some of the games I like to play for reference are the likes of the Total War series, any strategy game, and some other games such as Witcher and Fallout. Im looking for tips to improve my gaming experience, namely in making games such as Total War run smoother with more units on screen as well as better FPS and graphics output. Any help is appreciated!

My rig is as follows below:

* Intel Core i7-2600K CPU with 3.40GHz
* 16.00 GB of DDR3 RAM
* 1 x GeForce GTX 970
* 1 x Samsung 850 PRO 1 TB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD
* 2 x 3TB Desktop HDD
* Intel DZ68PL ATX Motherboard LGA1155
* EVGA W1 80+ 500 Continuous Power
* Corsair Graphite Series 760T Full Tower Windowed Case - White (CC-9011074-WW)
* Logitech Mouse and Keyboard
* Generic PnP Monitor (I'm also looking for tips for a new monitor, namely in what monitors you would recommend for good FPS or great visuals.)

Thanks in advance!

Holy crap. Your rig is a killer at 1080p and great even at 1440p.

What is the upgrade for? If you have trouble with running the games, then I think you might have other problems.

Also, the max settings in Total War are meant for future graphics cards or really high-end ones.

Mainly for preparations for future games as well as older Total War games.

The best thing you can get is GTX 980 Ti right now, but WAIT!

Next year, Pascal will come out from NVIDIA and will hopefully somewhat meet expectations.

Wait until next year's HBM graphics cards from AMD or NVIDIA and upgrade the card then along with your power supply.

You can send me a private message if you have any questions. Cheers :)
