ddr4 memory question?

I have an x99 system with a 5960x processor. I would like to put 64gb of ddr4 ram. Should I go with 4x16 or 8x8 configuration? Would I get better performance if I filled all 8 memory slots? My Motherboard supports Quad Channel ddr4 memory up to 3333mhz. Thanks

Everything I've ever read indicate that filling up more individual slots actually makes it harder to hit maximum speed. So - from that I would assume that 4x16GB would be better than 8x8GB, although I can imagine that the 16GB sticks are more expensive.
