You could get a haswell chip and use that money to upgrade the gpu?

If you are building it for gaming, Id say to nix the whole setup. If you go with an LGA 1150 socket and an 4th generation CPU like a haswell i5, then you'd have way more money to get a decent graphics card. However, if you're building it for editing purposes then I could see why the 6th generation and DDR4 ram would be more beneficial. The only problem that youd have is that a $700 budget is going to be hard to swing with the newest generation of tech. You'll most likely end up with sub par parts from less than fully reputable companies in order to keep it cost effective.

I suppose I could, but the 6600 is a great processor, and I don't think that the GPU that I chose is bad. Is it? What possible, better combonations (of processor and GPU) could I use?

Yes it is, but its not really going to make a difference between socket 1150. Unless you want that 1151 for future proof. Theres a wide variety of 1150 i5s that are great. I use the 4570 and have 0 problems. You could get the 4460 for 175$. Its really up to you.
