I recently installed a Gigabyte 970A-DS3P motherboard and a CPU AMD FX-8300 3.30GHZ. I also installed all the new drivers from the motherboards cd. I have Windows 10. I tested the temperatures with a lot of programs and they are more than fine. My PSU is 450 W.So i checked my event logs and i get the critical errors of my restarts. Posting the pictures below.

Any help will be appreciated a lot, thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.

My PSU is an ATX Power Supply V2.3 MS-N550 VAL and my GPU is an NVIDIA GTS 250.

I mean, could it be that my new CPU in combination with the GPU cant be handled by my PSU ?

An update, i left the computer running when i went to sleep and it never restarted for 5 hours. So, as i suspected it does it when i have a youtube video or a video game running. Still the temperatures are fine even in these occasions.

UPDATE: I benchmarked the CPU solely first, pc didn't restart (benchmark program: prime95).
I benchmarked the GPU solely as well, pc didn's restart (benchmark program: Valley benchmark)
When i ran both the benchmark programs though, after 5 minutes the pc restarts. I did this test 3 times, did the same thing every sngle time.

So I assume the problem is the PSU ?

I find it kinda weird that 550 Watts can't handle this CPU and GPU but then again my PSU is 6 years old or so, so it might not work properly anymore.

So having seen some of the prices between

PSU COOLERMASTER G650M GM SERIES 650W MODULAR 80+ BRONZE

and

PSU CORSAIR VS SERIES VS650 - 650W

which one would you suggest ?

It's not weird at all - low-end power supplies are infamous for being utter junk and having listed outputs that are more fictional than Harry Potter.

Where are you shopping from and what is your budget? I would not buy either of those PSUs for an 8350 either, though they're likely better than what you have right now.

I mean, I already spent 250 euros for the new Motherboard and the new CPU so I don't want to spend more than, like 100 euros. But if I really need to buy something more expensive but significantly better i could go up to 120 I guess.

Depends what country you're in. In Germany, I see the XFX 550 for €69.90, the Antec HCG-620 for €98.89, a Seasonic 550 for €83.37, the Seasonic S12 II for €79.46, and so on. That's why I asked where you're shopping from - prices will vary quite a bit and it's hard to give you a better recommendation without this information.

I am from Greece and the prices of the PSUs you talk about are about the same here as well. So which one of these are the best option for the AMD FX-8300 3.30GHZ CPU and the NVIDIA GTS250 in your opinion ?

Of those, you actually can't go wrong with any of them. Some offer modular cables, some better efficiency, some lower price. But the ones I listed are all Tier One or Two PSUs that will perform well in any mainstream build.

UPDATE: So, I tried 3 different PSUs before buying a new one, and the problem remained. Then we tried removing one of the RAM sticks and to our surprise the pc didnt restart. Then we plugged in 2x2GB RAMs from my friends pc and the stress testing was running good for like half an hour without any restarts, both with my PSU and his PSU as well.Normally after 5 minutes it would always restart.

So I guess the RAMs are not functioning together (??). Maybe one of them is broken ? I am so confused that this was the problem eventually but anyway, with my motherboard what RAMs should I go for ? I need 8 GB memory and, reminder, my mother board is a Gigabyte GA 970A-DS3P. So what would you guys suggest ?

Thanks in advance.

DRAM # is OCZ3X13332G and the RAM sticks are from my previous build (intel core duo) . Any chance they interfere with amd processors? Just checked my motherboard ram compatibility and this model is not on the list.
