I have a Seagate 1 Tb HDD and Samsung 250 Gb SDD, I want to put my OS on the SDD for faster boot up and maybe some games for shorter loading times. But I don't want to copy all my files from my HDD on the SDD making me have to delete files.. Is there a way to do this?

Most SSD's comes with cloning software, or at least mine did. If your 1TB is partitioned and your OS Partition is less or equal to the size of the SSD then you can do a straight clone, if your drive is NOT partitioned and use more than 250GB you will NOT be able to clone a 1TB drive to a 250GB SSD , It will be easier and quicker just to do a fresh install .

When you say do a fresh install, do you mean delete everything than re-download everything? Than what would I do with private things like family pictures or important documents?

No...

Cloning means you don't have to re-install OS and Apps, thereby saving you some time and hassle and preserves all your custom settings. Clean install is the REVERSE of Cloning, but NEITHER deletes your personal data.

Clean install 50 feet up procedure:

1. Remove HD, Plug in SSD in its place.
2. Boot with Windows original install media, install as new.
3. Go into the hassle of installing all remaining/missing drivers.
4. Update with Microsoft.
5. Download and/or re-install all Apps.
6. When things is verified to boot satisfactorily, plug in HD as on second SATA port, Windows will see it as a data drive, assuming it's now D:, you can proceed to remove d:\windows, d:\program files, etc. to release all space occupied by old OS+Apps, but you can perform this step at your leisure.

Dont delete anything from the 1TB drive.

Install a fresh copy of Windows in the SSD, then use your 1TB as a secondary drive. You might have to create new shortcut for your games to point to the 1TB drive ( whatever the driver letter might be).

You can copy the games folder from the 1TB to the SSD ( assuming you use Steam). Install STEAM and copy the folder contents for STEAM from the 1TB to the SSD. Then log back in and check if you see your games. Copy the folder not move in case something goes wrong. Same process will work for Origin.
