Dual display with BOTH integrated MOBO and discrete GPU

My question is basic.
I want to run dual display (i.e. extended desktop) with my PC. however, I don't want both displays to be handled by the discrete GPU, but rather the main display to be handled by the discrete GPU and the extended display to be handled by the integrated mobo graphics. this way I can get single display performance on the main monitor for my gaming while still getting a second display for managing recording/streaming software, chat, music etc. while I play a game.

Is there a way to do this or not? if it is dependent on my setup here it is:
Mobo: GA-78LMT-UB3 rev. 6.0 (integrated ATI Radeon 3000)
GPU: XFX GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB
OS: Windows 10 Enterprise x64

I'm fairly certain my other system info is unnecessary but I will provide it if asked.
Thanks in advance for any insight into this situation.

Solution
Under standard CMOS features, select the IGX Configuration and see if it will let you enable.

Some AMD systems do disable this when you have a graphics card though, so may not be possible with this system.

Yes you can usually do this. I do exactly this, I run my main screen off my GTX 780 for games, and my secondary screen off the IGPU intel graphics.

Some AMD boards will actually disable the IGPU when a graphics card is put in, so you may need to go into the bios to re enable it.

It would be a huge pain actually. just to reiterate since you clearly didn't read what I said in my OP:
I want single display performance on my GTX while not having to use only one screen. If I use the second DVI port then the GPU has to handle more process to run the two displays and thusly degrades the performance of games running on the main one. Hence the term "single display performance".
But thank you for your input.

could you point me in the direction of where I might find out if I can with my current system?

Yeah just try what I said ? :

Under standard CMOS features, select the IGX Configuration and see if it will let you enable.

I have an older GPU and I have tested it myself that when I run an extended display in a game like Mirror's Edge for example and just an extended display with nothing running but the game and graphics settings on high with PhysX I get about 40fps but when I disable the display I jump right up to 60fps solid. just running a second display eats up GPU bandwidth on this card as it isn't much to begin with. it's not a newer 400, 500, 600 etc. this card is equivalent to a GTX 250 as they are the same card but the 250 is a rehash.

I changed the mode from auto to dvi and left the other setting alone as it had no other options than disable. here are three pics of the section in my bios for IGX but still not sure what to do if this worked or not. do i check using control panel? and where in control panel other than display because I don't see any options to enable a second display

I set device manager to show hidden devices and it's there but when I go into properties I don't get an option to enable the device. here is a screenshot

Unfortunatly it appears your motherboard shares the PCI-E for the graphics card and the integrated graphics, so doesnt look like it will allow the two.

The best option may be to upgrade your old 9800 to a more recent card which can handle multiple displays better, like the 750 Ti.

already planned on an upgrade. this card was mainly to supplement my basic gaming needs til I got the money together. Was hoping I could run the two separately for better performance out of my 9800 but oh well. Thanks for helping me figure this out!

I already know that Intel is the premier gaming CPU/IGPU MOBO but my 8320E will more than suffice for a while. As for my GPU upgrade I already have my eyes set on THIS bad boy.

Great. Yeah the 8320E can still run stuff pretty well.

Looks like a good card. Good luck with your upgrades.
