For my new skylake build i plan to use this motherboard. It will be inside the Fractal Design R5. Will it work, and is the motherboard good?

Your case supports CPU coolers up to 180mm in height. Evo 212 is less than 160mm, so it will fit. Also your cabinet supports all sizes mobo´s.

The gigabyte mobo you picked is an entry level mobo, but quite good. I have the GA-Z170X Gaming G1, which is the same series but premium board with a few more stuff, like more power phases, overpriced sound, more ports etc.

I doubt...

Depends on what you´re gonna use it for.
Z170 chipset just means it can overclock (quite well)

This particular board features good build quality and supports SLI, M.2 and (i think) USB 3.0. However if you need none of these features you´re just paying overprice :)

So it really comes down to your needs, but overall it´s an excellent mobo. My favourite with this chipset is probably the MSI Krait

Thank you for the answer! I was just asking because i've heard some negative reviews about it although i have heard more positive ones. Some are complaining that the M.2 slots dont work and the BIOS is buggy or something and i just dont want any issues since it is gonna be my first build ;). Do you know if the motherboard can hold the Hyper 212 evo cooler? :)

I doubt you´ll have buyers remorse with this board,

As for M.2., you may (probably not though) need to update bios, to get the m.2. drive recognized in bios.
You should run or update to windows 10 as well, as it has better driver support for m.2. It´s not something that should hold you back from buying it though.
Samsung´s 950 Pro is quite impressive btw. Lightning fast! :lov:

Thank you for the in depth help. M2 is actually not something i will be using right now, but more in the future as i have decided to go with the samsung 850 evo for the build. Mainly because i can't afford the pro :p xD

Definitely a great board for SLI and overclocking and has great build quality but if you don't need any of those i suggest going with a cheaper board something like the Asus H170 PRO GAMING MOBO.
