can this cpu work on this motherboard

hello , my first thread here and since i cant find anything on the internet im wondering if AMD Athlon II X4 840 is compatible with M61PME-S2P motherboard. I was looking at motherboard compatible cpus and i didnt find this one cpu but now i have AMD Athlon II X3 450 and its working but he also isnt in the list of compatible cpus
i hope you understand my question

The socket is AM2/AM2+. However, the AM3 processors will work in the AM2+ socket because of how AMD designed the AM3 processors. The compatibility filter may not have taken that into account. I'd just check the list of supported CPUs to be absolutely sure.
