i have 8 gb of ram currently on windows 7 pro 32 bit. What i would like to know is 8gb of ram enough for x64 bit os?

Solution
8GB should suffice to start if on a 32bit OS currently - how much will depend on what all you PLAN to do, if going to be running VMS, doing video editing, etc...DRAM centric apps may need more. Many will use far more than 8GB, and many use less ;) I.E. I'm typically using 20+GB

It's plenty, depending on what you want to do. Some programs will ask for more (or need it) but as a basic user 8 GB will be plenty. Win32 bit will only use up to about 4GB of RAM, so as long as the rest of your system can support more RAM (like your motherboard) you shouldn't have any issues with having 8GB of RAM installed.

Just general pc usage such as spotify, chrome and hearthstone all running at the same time for me only uses 2GB of my RAM.

Windows 7 64bit is recommends 4GB RAM, your 8GB is totally fine (you will never max it out). I have only ever seen my ram go to 5.5GB before in one of my games.
