Hi, I want to take my HDD out of my laptop and put an SSD in. Then I want to install Windows 8.1 on the SSD from the disk drive. (I have have an official key and disk) The laptop is a HP Pavilion G6. My main question is will I be able to remove the SSD from the laptop after installing windows on it and put it in my new PC I built. I don't intend to ever boot off the original HDD on my new PC, just the laptop. After all this swapping out will I be able to put the HDD back in the laptop like nothing ever happened? I know I should just install it on my new PC directly but I've been having some issues with boot priorities, I don't want to go into it. Thanks!

No.
Install the OS on the SSD in the laptop, and then plug that drive into the desktop....no boot for you.

The OS needs to be installed while the drive is installed in the system where it will live.

I know I should just install it on my new PC directly but I've been having some issues with boot priorities, I don't want to go into it.
Whatever is going on there...fix that.
