Couldnt tell you, but one time i tried to add two extra 2gb sticks to my 16gb rig and it didn't work. but, it might for you. just try it, if it works it works, if it doesn't it doesn't.

You can but having different cas & timings might be more effort to all sticks talking. Will have to adjust the 4GB manually in the bios to match those 8GBs if the board couldn't automatically detect and adjust.

Also you'll knock out dual channel having 3 sticks if your board is dual channel based.

You can (potentially) its more a question of if you should. Issues with different timings, memory channels and blind luck all play a role. I urge you to not. If you want more ram you need the same make, model and capacity in all you sticks. mixing and matching does work (sometimes) but it usually hinders your performance in most usage models.

+1 If the play have the 8GB sticks in slots 1-3 or 2-4 from CPU and stick the odd stick in whichever slot (1 or 2 doesn't have an 8GB stick in). Also contrary to the above, you won't 'lose' dual channel, the 16GB will remain in dual and the new 4GB will run in single channel mode (no ill effects there) - the big thing will simply be if they play, might take voltage/timing adjustments, any troubles give a shout
