New pc won't post.

After finishing put together a new pc. I check to see if it posted. Instead I got an electric sounding click. Fans won't run. It's not the psu, and the mobo led is on. If I turn off the motherboard wait 30sec and try again I hear the click again. I'm using a static protector.

Have both 24 and 4/8 pin connectors firm in the mobo? May have a short, might want to bench it, have a guide that may help here:

I've made sure that all plugs are in, I think you are right that there is a short, any suggestions on if there's a way to fix it? Sorry for downvoting, clicked the wrong one

Try the bench guide I linked - if all works outside the case then the problem will prob be with the standoffs or possible the back plate
