I'm not completely computer savvy so I'll try to describe this the best that I can. I had a EVGA nVidia GTX 760 that was overheating after being about a year old. I RMA'd that card back to EVGA and got a new 760. While the card was being RMA'd I installed an older nVidia 450 ti in order to have some use of the computer while the card was in the process of being shipped. The new 760 came today and I unistalled the old 450 ti, put in the new card and booted up my computer. Everything came up fine except the resolution was set at 1024 x 768. Windows 10 prompted me to restart my computer in order to get full functionality of the graphics card. I restarted the computer, the motherboard splash-screen came up then I got a black screen and the monitor turned off. Not sure what to do, I restarted the computer again and it booted up fine and the resolution was correct this time. After a few minutes I got a blue screen saying there was a video TDR failure and instructed me to reboot. I rebooted the PC and it again got the motherboard splash-screen, the screen went black and the monitor turned off. I called a friend who walked me through starting in safe mode and unistalling the drivers. That done, I restarted again and the resolution was set at the resolution was set at 1024 x 768 once it rebooted. I reinstalled the moist recent drivers, restarted once more and same problem, splash screen, black, monitor goes off. My friend suggested to "refresh" windows 10. I went through that process and still had the same issues. I decided to take this new 760 out and reinstall the old 450 ti. Since putting in the the 450 ti i have not had an issue yet (fingers crossed).

What could be the issue here? Is the new 760 card bad? I'm so frustrated.

My system is:
Windows 10 64 bit
intel 6700k
16 gig RAM
850 Watt power supply

No, unfortunately I couldn't even get to bios with the new 760 installed. I tried at least three times but it would freeze or just flash the splash screen and then go black and the monitor would turn off.
