Hey guys, so just recently i upgraded my GPU and it's been running perfect until yesterday. I also installed new RAM ( And added more ram from 8 to 16 ) -

It seems that the computer is just completely freezing after a while of playing a game " Ark/Black Ops 3 " These are the only 2 games i've been playing since the freezing has started, and it's happened on both of them.

Computer Specs :

Intel Core i5 2500k 3.30 GHz

ASUS Mother Board - P8H61-MLE

DDR3 Ram - 16GB ( Hyperspeed Kingston ) ( Note that my MOBO is only like 1333 or 2333 or something and the new ram i put in was 2666 or something, i can't remember the exact numbers they were, but was told that the MOBO should be ok to use the ram it just wont reach the full potential of the 2666 or whatever. )

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 ( Upgraded about 3 weeks ago and everything has been fine until yesterday/today )

Running Windows 7 up-to-date

I have just taken the side off my tower and put a small fan on facing the GPU/CPU/MOBO to give it a bit more cooling, going to jump in a game shortly and see if it happens again and i'll update this post with the results.

I'm thinking it could be the RAM, or one of the sticks is faulty perhaps, the next step will be taking one out and playing and seeing if it does it again, and rinse/repeat with the second stick if it does freeze.

3rd step after checking the ram will be to plug in my old GPU in and see if it crashes again ( Though it is a pain in the ass because the old one is AMD, i will just have to do it i suppose ).

I'm due for an upgrade on the MOBO and CPU ( though i could continue to use the CPU as long as it isn't the problem here, figured i would upgrade CPU & MOBO at the same time ).

I have checked for drivers for everything and everything is up-to-date and is still causing the PC to randomly freeze during game-play, so i'm assuming if the hardware is all ok ( technically ) then it's an over-heating problem.

Anyone have any other ideas that it could be? Any tips/tricks to help quicken the process of elimination? Should i do a fresh install of windows 7?

Thanks in advance guys.
