Hi all,
Currently I am trying to install a 8GB RAM in my HP ab029tx(preinstalled 4GB).
I inserted it one the 2nd SODIMM slot available and it got clipped as normal.
But returning to windows , it is showing only 4GB(preinstalled).
RAMMON from passmark is detecting the RAM in 2nd slot as shown in below image.

But according to my windows10, there is no existence of the 2nd RAM.

I uploaded detailed result of RAMMON in html format in google drive.

I have checked msconfig and max RAM is unticked there.
And according to spec, it supports upto 16GB. hp link
Please help !!

Did you receive the laptop with Windows 10 pre-installed or did you install Windows 10 via the free upgrade path? If the laptop was upgraded to Windows 10,
1| Remove the additional ram
2| Revert to older OS
3| Install a matched kit of ram i.e a new 1600MHz 2x8Gb rated to run at 1.35v kit into your system
4| Reinstall your older OS (Windows 8/8.1)
5| Update until you reach upgrade option and install Windows 10.

and if it is in fact an upgrade to Windows 10, you're lucky the system didn't shut down on you and become inaccessible. On another note, please back up your critical content and please don't mix and match ram, they are just more headache then ease/comfort.

If the laptop came with the new OS pre-installed then try a repair install and see if that changes the ram detection?

Hi lutfij.
the problem is solved in another forum, I was trying to use 1.5volt RAM but my system/cpu supports only DDR3L RAM, so replaced it with a 8GB DDR3L and it worked fine.
