Hi, I just purchased the Seiki Pro SM40UNP 4K monitor. Unfortunately the only input it supports that will run 4K @ 60Hz is DP 1.2. My computer only has an HDMI output (no DP).

So, is there any form of adapter I can get which would allow me to run 4K @ 60 Hz? If not, what is the cheapest graphics card with DP 1.2 I can get that will output 4K @ 60Hz?

I am running a Dell 3000 series desktop with i5-4460 Processor, 8gb ram.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Chris

I don't know to much on AMD cards that have 1.2 display ports but I think a great choice for you would be the gtx 950, it retails for around 150$ and has 3 1.2 display ports if you want to go multi monitor. But if you don't want to do that they do sell hdmi to display port adapters, however I would personally recommend the 950 as it handles 4k 60hz video quite well and your previous card may not be able to handle the pressure of 4k video.

I would prefer the HDMI to DP adapter method, but I was under the impression that HDMI 1.4 does out output 4K @60Hz (even if connected to a HDMI to DP adapter). Am I correct in this? Thanks for your help, very much appreciate it.

HDMI ports are definitely capable of displaying 4k content. its just i thought you may want to go with a more powerful option for insurance. however if you want to go with the adapter you wont go wrong.
