Bought a new WD My Passport Ultra 2TB hdd. When I received it, I formatted it for a Mac but then didn't do anything with it (need to copy another hdd to it). Yesterday, I started the process of copying stuff to it and that seemed to work, except for two files which it gave me errors on. Okay, not a problem. But then the copying failed. Disconnected and reconnected, things went ahead, then failed again.
I opened Disk Utility and tried to verify and repair, but then I kept getting errors. Okay, let's reformat, I thought. No, that also gives errors. Tried it on a PC, tried two different USB cables, both USB ports on my MacBook Air, basically get the same results everywhere.
Now when I connect it, it doesn't show on the desktop, only within Disk Utitlity, but I can't complete anything there. I downloaded the WD Disk Utility, but basically get the same results (can't finish a format and none of the disk check options work at all).
Did I just buy an expensive brick? I don't care about the data. Is there anyway to get this working?
