would adding another gtx 660 to my rig incease fps if i decided to go VR in the future. Or will the 2GB VRAM limit me?? I'm not sure whether DX12 will allow memory pooling anyway for eg 4GB VRAM. i just wanna play in high settings , with an oculus rift or something at around 30+ fps min.

I doubt a 660s in SLI are as good as a 970, which is the lowest end card the Rift will like. You probably need a R9 Fury, Fury X or 980 Ti to get maxed out half decent performance on the Rift. It's still just speculation, though. Just wait and buy a whole new GPU next year with Pascal or Arctic Islands.
