Hi

Not very experienced when it comes to networking stuff so bear with me.

I set up a wireless access point by connecting an extra router we had lying around (Belkin N600 DB) to our existing router which is provided our ISP Telus (Actiontec v1000h).

I looked up a guide for setting it up here:

http://www.belkin.com/us/support-article?articleNum=8067

Basically, I chose the "Set up as access point" setting on the Belkin's configuration page (which I accessed through 192.168.2.1).
It then told me to me to enter a unique IP address which I left as the default of 192.168.2.254. The default subnet mask I also left unchanged at 255.255.255.0

Now the problem is I cannot access the configuration page for the Belkin at 192.168.2.1 anymore. I tried 192.168.2.254 as well but that didn't work. I can still access the Actiontec's configuration page of 192.168.1.254, but I didn't change anything there in the first place.

The connection is working fine however. I just wanted to get in to change some settings and update the firmware.

Sorry if this ends up being an obvious answer but thanks

Solution
The IP you choose needs to be in the 192.168.1.x subnet. When you "set as access point" you turn off the DHCP server in the router and the 192.168.2.x subnet stops existing at the next reboot of the Belkin. Your computer should have a 192.168.1.x IP address after the belkin reboots.

Thanks! Working great now.

Just reset the router and set it to 1.253 instead.
