Samsung M3 Portable External Hard drive doesn't work properly

A week ago I bought a Samsung M3 Portable External Hard drive 2TB (Model:HX-M500TCB/G).
I bought it to use it with my Xbox One, but when I plugged it in the xbox didn't recognize it as a suitable hard drive, something very odd because I had investigated and it was supposed to work.
But I tought it was just a format error, so I connected it to my computer and change the format to FAT32, but it didn't work again, so I gave up and just kept it as a computer hard drive, but later i realize it wasn't working properly: Whenever I try to copy something to it, it would take all the time needed (so it's not doing it faster than it should be), but in the case of coping a folder, it would appear empty, and when coping a file, it becomes corrupted.
I have already tried contacting Xbox and Samsung, but both of them tell me that it should be working after all I have done, and I can't even use the warranty because I didn't buy it directly from a Samsung store.
Please reply if you know anything that could help me.
(Sorry if my english is bad, I'm not a native speaker)

Hi there Campitok,

The first thing you need to do is to just back up the data stored on the drive.
After that, you can just test it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
If the test results show that there is something wrong whit it, and it is under warranty, I guess you can just RMA it.
In case you have a spare USB cable, you can try it as well.

Let me know how this goes,
