is it safe to use a 4 pin molex to 4 pin connector to power the motherboard?

mobo is being powered by an 8 pin connector and it only requires a 4 pin. i need the 8-pin to power a graphics card but if i do that that then i dont have a way of powering the mobo. will it work if i take 4pin molex to 4 pin adapter and hooked it up to one of the spare 4 pin molex connectors i have and use that to power the mobo. the mobo needs a 4-pin ATX12V. so will this work and should the existing 4pin molex be already connected to the psu and ready to use.

Solution
You most likely you need new PSU what model and brand you have ?
If PSU do not have 8 pin for GPU is probably to weak to powered it anyway.
Entire PC Specification with new GPU please.

could you recommend be the best psu in terms of bang for buck. perhaps 750w will do but something that wont break the bank and has the same dimensions as a Tsunami 600 W ATX PSU+12CM fan.

cheers

This PSU can take most CPU + GPU setups
But if your GPU will require 2x8 PIN you need take this https://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1650snlb9
* But if you want 2x,3x or 4x GPU setup you need more expensive PSU
