Greetings,

I was planning on building a small Minecraft server that was capable of holding 20+ people and around 20 plugins. Nothing too serious going on server wise, no multiple worlds or anything like that (besides end/nether/overworld/etc). Might run the occassional mod pack with only a few people online.

My upload/download is good enough :)

My planned requirements for this server is that it would be small, quiet and cool. I was ultimately hoping that I could make something that I could easily carry around to places. I was thinking Micro ATX.

~~~~~~~~
Budget Range: Around 500 but could stretch to 1000/1500 if necessary (probably necessary).
System Usage: Running a Minecraft server basically 24/7. Probably would like a bit of leeway to host most other games. (one server at a time ofc)
Are you buying a monitor?: No
OS: Probably Linux Mint
Preferred Website for parts: Anywhere. If you're going to recommend a website; preferably Australian because postage :s I'm stranded on this island
Parts Preferences: Durable enough to be running 24/7, powerful CPU, Decent RAM (maybe 8gb? Probably don't need more: also with good Mhz and latency), SSD (One for os and one for server? Or would one larger HDD (OS + server backup) one smaller SSD be cheaper/better?). Probably would need to buy some fans and heatsink stuff as well.
SLI or Crossfire?: Probably don't need anything more than a little bit of integrated graphics for the occasional viewing/VNC connect.
Preferably with Wifi as well as Ethernet in case I don't have access to ethernet (insert sad face)
~~~~~~~~

So far I've decided to go with three of these following computer cases, all Micro ATX:
Silencio 352
Elite 130
Thermaltake Core V21
In Order of what I think I'll be going with ^. Preferably something quiet, that can have the trays inside removed to make more room and with good breathability/cooling and stuff.

MORE STUFF ABOUT WHAT IS NEEDED FOR A MINECRAFT SERVER, that you may know:

CPU: As you may know, Minecraft doesn't really use more than one core, so you want a CPU with great single core performance, though probably with around 4 cores because mods and other games can use more.

RAM: Probably around 100mb a player

SSD/HDD: Probably wouldn't get close to 20gb, but yeah, might have different servers standing by offline

I think that covers everything, give me a shout and I'll make additions if I haven't -- Thanks greatly for the help! :)

Here is one a bit over $500 and probably overkill. Minecraft servers are multithreaded and thus the FX chips are favorites, often hosting over 200 players for the higher end ones. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Do you think I could replace the current case with the Thermaltake Core V21? It's a lot smaller and is listed as compatible so I presume it would fit. My larger desktop is a similar looking Carbide, and the looks of it are getting a bit dreary. I'd prefer not to have two of them :).

I don't think there are any other MicroATX Mini Towers that are compatible with this current build?

Certainly. I just stuck the 200R in since it needed a basic case. I suppose I should have noticed and used one of the listed cases but I tend to skim over longer posts.It could probably fit most microATX cases, including the ones you mentioned though the cooler is a bit large.
