New to building pcs, want a high end rig for 4k gaming / 60 fps ultra witcher 3 w/ mods. Im looking to put a evga 980 ti AC 2. I will probably be overclocking. My friends tell me it's stupid and youll break your rig faster but with these expensive well reviewed parts...i should be good, no?

You will not achieve 60 FPS in 4k on Ultra with Witcher 3 on one 980 Ti. Unfortunately GPUs aren't strong enough yet to push those kind of settings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdIDzBazf4E

That combination will work fine. Just make sure you get a quality power supply (not a Corsair CX) and a decent CPU cooler for overclocking. It's perfectly safe to do if you don't try and take any shortcuts.

Niiiiice. That will be a killer build. I guess the only other thing is that if you REALLY want to push the overclock you can consider the Gigabyte Gaming 5 instead of the MSI to get 8 power phase digital VRMs instead of the hybrid/analog in the MSI. But plenty of people can achieve good clocks on the MSI so don't think it is necessary.
