I've got an old E-Machine T5234 that I've upgraded a little. It's now running a Athlon 64 x2 5600 and a GeForce 8600 GT but it still has the original LiteOn PS 5301-08HA 300w psu. Someone has given me a BFG GeForce 8800 GT and I'm wondering if this system like it is now will run the 8800 GT. My son will be doing some gaming on it. Thanks for any replies.

I used to have an Athlon 64 x2 5600 and an 8800GT system. I loved that machine. I think I still have most of the old parts lying around.

But to answer your question, no I would not put an 8800GT on that power supply. The 8800GT pulls more than double the power of the 8600GT.
