Greetings,
I am completely baffled on buying or making my own cat6 patch cords. I have seen stranded utp bare copper and cca patch cables. Please advise what I need for the cat6 patch cords. Also, all patch cables to consoles and computers.

Thank you

Have you not read enough post in this forum: NO CCA CABLES?

Other than that you are over-thinking it. Buy Pre-made. monoprice.com has got it cheap, I have yet to have anybody complaint about them. All you have to decide is what color and with/without that annoying nipple protector thingy.

No cca (Thanks billg001).

How many cables do you need? If just a "few" then it is not worth purchasing the tools, connectors, testing equipment, etc. If "a lot" then you probably will not save much once you consider the labor time considered.

All things considered just purchase the patch cables. Known brands and vendors of course. Local if possible so you can readily return any bad cables.

Thank you all.

I have searched many websites for this answer. The only reason I posted the question in this forum is because I have read sound advice here. An It tech wear I work, said it did not matter on what cat6 patch cord I used. I also have read that people were using solid bare brass cat6 for patch cords with no issues.

I am ignorant of what I am doing that is why I will continue to read all I can so that my home network will run smooth.

Thank you again

just buy premade, its much easier unless you are working with old AT&T wiring, then you are better making your own. Be surprised just how many ppl confuse grn/wht with blue/wht then go nuts trying to figure out why there's no signal from the router
