Please help! I was trying to create a recovery drive on my Dell Laptop running Win10;
by mistake I used the drive where my Seagate Backup Plus of 3TB as the drive for the location of the recovery drive. The operation reformatted the Seagate drive. By this, I lost all the data on the Seagate which I saved through the years. Also, the Seagate drive was formatted to become 32GB capacity. Questions please:

1, Can I recover my old data? If yes, how?
2, If I can not recover my old data, how can I reformat the Seagate drive to recover the 3TB capacity so I can reuse the Seagate drive?

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how successful the 'do-it-yourself' data recovery attempts will be. :( You've already overwritten the data, which might make the recovery even harder for you. I'd strongly advise you to consider a professional assistance with this. You can get in touch with your HDD manufacturer's customer support for any data recovery company referrals.

You can also try using some third-party data recovery tools at your own risk but nobody can determine how successful that would be. Here's a thread you might find useful, though: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html

In the future, I'd strongly recommend you to keep your data backed up on at least one...

In the future, I'd strongly recommend you to keep your data backed up on at least one other storage device/location. This is the best way to avoid such data-loss headaches.

Hope I was helpful. Good luck!
