As per my combination above, the BIOS shows only 4GB of RAM capacity while it shows 2 sticks of RAM are in the system, kinda weird.

I have updated BIOS to the latest 1.5 version from MSI website, and it is the same. I have tried other pair of RAM, Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz 4GB x 2, and it is the same. I have also set A-Data one to all the available frequency (voltage increased itself automatically, RAM stick rated up to 1.65V), everything remains the same.

Could it be APU itself is defective? I have emailed AMD support and I am pondering for RMA if there is no solution at all. I have no other AMD platform PC in the house, all are Intel and this is my first time using AMD since my last AMD build (AMD XP 2000). :(

Any help? Yesterday I reseat the APU, and weird enough the RAM is now recognised at 8GB, dual channel. But the agony didnt stop there, I tried some games, and once in a while screen artifacts occurs and the system will hang. This is completely similar to the photo posted in this thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/361129-28-5800k-freezes-locks

And once it happens, the BIOS will post only 4GB RAM. I will need to shut down and power on again so that 8GB (dual channel) can be recognised. The thread I mentioned early indicated about disabling this C6 mode which I will try later.

Could it be the processor is faulty? If I request for RMA and just send back. Will AMD just check?

RAM should be fine I guess since it works perfectly fine on another 3 builds of mine. Strange thing is like my first post, the mainboard show RAM sticks are installed on 2 DIMM slots but shows only 1x capacity. No matter how I set the bios, none helped until I reseat the APU.

Another thing to check, I saw heatsink mark on the APU heat spreader, which I believe due to pressing punch from the heatsink fan (I am using Deep Cool Gammaxx 400 (http://deepcool.com/product/cpucooler/2013-12/7_487.shtml) which I usually dont see on my Intel builds... Is it something that I should worry?

Oh ya, I just remember when the heatsink fan is on, due to the freeplay of the two locking latches, I accidentally slide it above the heatspreader thus it looks like those heat pipe marks mirrored onto it. Maybe there is the reason why it has mark on it. I guess most heat sinks are made to Intel spec which fit snugly? While on AMD, freeplay kicks in...
