Very true, but the PLX PCIe3x16x16 peer to peer communication speeds vs native PCIe3x8x8 more than makes up for it (to an extent). It also allows for other PCIe goodies to not force others down to a lower state when they are not in use. All in all it really isn't worth the money unless you plan to theoretically exceed 32 lanes of PCIe3x16 worth of devices. Which I did when I added the 950 pro. Really I got this motherboard because I wanted an "all in one" type deal that had a lot of integrated tech and PCIe configuration options.

what is it used for then? so i could put a second gpu in that?

It can be used for other things, sound cards, LAN cards, and you can put in an additional GPU, however you won't have CFX or SLI capability.

BTW...Your motherboard is now $119.

On a 100% unhelpful note... the best LGA 1150 socket motherboard would probably be something in the stupid expensive range like I have (ASRock Extreme9) $$320~$340 MSRP. This does not really help though for a $100-ish price...

^^^ Honestly that or something similar to it, it is a really nice board for the price.

edit> Here is a "Tom's Hardware 2014 Approved" board for right about $115.

For sure, i've built PCs with it's ATX brother the Z97 Pro4, and it has a ton of features and it's crazy cheap.
