So I am currently building a new pc and I plan on using my current SSD(Has the OS) and HDD(contains game files, etc.) for my new motherboard. I understand that I will need to do a clean Windows install on my SSD for the new motherboard, but I was wondering if I need to wipe my HDD for the new motherboard. Is it possible to just connect the HDD containing all my files to the new motherboard after setting up windows in the SSD?

Please excuse my ignorance.

so long as it is all just data then there is no reason to format the hdd. the new windows install will read it all no problem. i am assuming the game files are installers and game saves type items. you should be fine with those but if it the actual installation and it runs from the hdd, then it will probably need to be reinstalled with the os

you do have the right idea with leaving it unplugged until the ssd is up and running. then plug the hdd in and boot it up :)
