Hello,
I know this has been asked millions of times but I searched very hard and couldn't find a solution.

My Samsung External HD stopped showing up on My Computer a few days ago. I've tested it in every USB port of 3 computers and it never appeared.

However, I can see it at the Device Manager and Disk Management (screenshot link), but can't change Partitions or Device Letter, it's just sitting there.

I'd very much like to keep the files intact because I have no backup.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Which model do you have?

About all I can think of right now is to go to Samsung's website and check the FAQ's/forums there.

The option of last resort is the ziplock bag and freezer "fix". I have had that work but there is risk.

Have you been moving it between computers? Was it shared via any of those computers?

I had some funny things going on with one of my external USB shared drives. Put it back on the original computer, removed sharing, did the proper disconnect procedure, and all seemed well thereafter.

I move it between computers but haven't shared it. It's basically a glorified flash drive for me, I just use it to transfer files.
That's the weirdest thing for me - I've never done any of that fancy stuff, yet it's acting up.

No error messages or any requests for login/password?

Could have bumped the drive or damaged the cable during a move maybe - some of these things are getting pretty fragile.

Try using another USB cable that is known to work.

Failing that try to run some drive diagnostics and see if anything shows up.

Doesn't work with other cables. Also ran SeaTools - Fix All Long and even after it finished it's still the same.
Again, the drive is recognized by Windows, as shown in the screenshot, but I just can't access it.
