Would a GTX EVGA 960 FTW 2GB fit in a HP Pavilion p7-1380t CTO Desktop PC case?

what you need to do first it be dang sure the card will work on that hp and its propritory bios and all as you can see from here you may find it don't no matter what you do ??

my disclaimer I give for prebuilts upgrading a gpu

some models of store bought computers [dell.hp,acer,ect..] may come with a ''locked or fixed'' bios and may not allow you to change certain hardware as a video card.. this is done to protect them from undue warranty claims and refunds .this is not done to hurt you but to protect them. you really need to see if that upgrade has been proven to work in your model first before you invest money in it .. there are a lot of these threads here at toms to look at some models will allow upgrades and some dont.. and a lot of guys here say ya ya ya when is really no no no...it would be sad you spent $200 on a card that wount post after you installed it as most find out. then get told its your psu and you spend more and end up right back where you are now, but its up to you good luck..

you got to know the the boards in these computers are not like the ones we use to do custom builds witch are open to upgrading with in the boards compatibly . the bios is custom made for there design and just for the parts they authorize to be used on there computers there only guaranteed to work as is out of the box as you bought it ,..

also these boards do not have to meet atx standards and there pci-e slot power may not do the required 75w needed for most higher end cards and can be limited to say 45 or 60w that is all thats needed with the low end factory oem cards that it may of shipped with

good luck

some extra to look over if you want to

Here is a link to the motherboard specs of my computer. http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-p7-1300-Desktop-PC-series/5258500/model/5197680/document/c03135925/

As soon as we bought the computer, we took it apart and added a new graphics card and RAM. We have had no problems with the computer since then.

ok then if the card was all ready in ,why did you ask this ? as said it all you own risk you may of just got lucky and the card was supported ?

there only guaranteed to work with what hp sold to you out of the box- and on there approved upgrade support list - that's it , the rest is all on you

you buy - you try- and hope it don't make you cry

When we bought the computer, we put an AMD Radeon 2600 HD XT in it. We didn't put a GTX EVGA 960 FTW 2GB into the computer. Here is a link to a page that makes it sound like you can put whatever graphics card you want in this HP computer without problems. http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-p7-1380t-CTO-Desktop-PC/5258500/model/5197680/document/c01317954

It is under "Step 2: Update the graphics driver" under "Update The Driver when you have upgraded the graphics card (desktop PCs only)" in the link provided above.

AMD Radeon 2600 HD XT

that's a old low power card

notice in the link I gave the guy says '''The below list of HP OEM graphics cards should work in your PC'' key wording = ''should '' [not will] as is in no guarantees / may or may not

notice the cards listed are not higher end but more to lower mid range

the look at the card guys show had issues more to higher end

you do what you feel is best but .... unless I could see 100% prof a new series of card like a 960 did work fully ?????

dude I'm just trying to warn you and point you in a direction to look over before you spend 200 bucks

good luck

The problem is I have already bought the item and it is in transit right now...
I didn't realize that the BIOS would be a problem. I posted this question right after I bought the graphics card. I will have to take my chances now.... :( The computer referred to in your link is not the same computer as what I own. I guess we will just have to see what happens.

Could I just buy a new gaming motherboard? Then it wouldn't be HP and the processors are Intel so those and everything else could just be moved over to the new motherboard.

you may get lucky and it FULLY works ? also like I said in thay deal I posted about the pci slot power as well as the hp board may only supply 45x to the slot and the card requires a full 75w ??

hp and them sell computers and you upgrading them don't put money in there pocket they rather you go but there newest latest model if your old one falls short

I hope it all works out in the end for you
good luck

Hey, sorry it took so long to respond. The GTX 960 FTW worked perfectly with the new power supply in my HP Pavilion computer!
