Hi Fellas,

I'm getting a MSI z170a Gaming M7 which supports max 64gb ram.

Originally I was going to get Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (8x2) 3200MHz, but then read a couple of posts which state that system has booting issue as it is not compatible (with NO overclocking) so now I'm getting Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (8x2) 2400MHz :??:

Can anyone let me know if 3200Mhz ram will be compatible? If yes, any supporting evidence would be appreciated :wahoo:

Also what will the impact if I get ram with 3200Mhz vs 2400Mhz? I'm mostly building my rig for gaming :na:

If I wish to get additional RAM then, do I need to go for another kit of the ram that's already present in my system?

Thanks!
Neal :clin:

Solution
I have the LPX 3000 with a 6700K and Asus Z170 board, did a bios update after first boot and enabled XMP after and been running since, no issues.
The board I am using had a lot of reviews on Newegg stating ram issues but many to me was obvious lack of knowledge.

Best to get all the DRAM you want in a single package - no guarantees when mixing packages of DRAM - even of the same exact model. As far as 2133, 2400 or 3000 it all depends on what you do with your rig, I'm running 3200 on my Z170/6600K and can see a big difference from 2133/2400 - then too I use my rigs heavily. But even in gaming some games utilize DRAM well (Fallout 4 as an example). As far as having to OC the CPU, it all depends on the individual CPU you get all 6600K are slightly different as are 6700Ks, an OC of the CPU may be required

Thanks Mate!

I've ordered G.SKILL Ripjaws V 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200 Mhz Desktop Memory F4-3200C16D-16GVKB. I checked at the official MSI website for supported RAM and found this RAM in OC (Memory Support)
