Hi all - I'm currently undertaking my second adventure in building my own PC, and just as I got everything hooked up, I realized that the 8-pin CPU plug does not fit into the motherboard (MSI H170a Gaming Pro). It appears the heat spreader/added flair has gotten in the way...somebody in manufacturing got lazy and soldered it a tad off center. Anyone else have this problem? At first I thought that the thing had to be detachable...but it doesn't appear to want to move. I'm hoping I'm being dumb at 1AM, but I really think I need to rip it all apart and RMA the thing...needless to say, a tad disappointed.

Hi,
Not sure if they're using screws for installing the heat spreaders. Check the back of the board. However, if the holes are off the right positions, you'd have to drill new ones. Or cut a piece of the metal.
I'd RMA the board. The issue says a lot about the quality control of these guys.

Yeah, I submitted the request. I'm just literally amazed. I saw it partially blocked when I unpacked it, but didn't think anything of it, thinking that those red pieces had to be detachable....nope, I was wrong. That's a gross oversight in their manufacturing process.
