How do i enable overclocking on my nvidia gtx 760 graphics card

is it set by default? when I try using MSI afterburner to overclock it doesn't even improve it by 1 frame, that cant be right. do I have to download and install NVIDIA system tools driver to be able to overclock my gpu?

what increase on core or memory are we talking about? the performance gain , if any, depends on the rest of your hardware and the specific games you play. for example, a weak cpu that cannot fully utilize a gtx 760 wont allow any benefit from overclocking the gpu or a rather old and cpu sensitive game will also hardly benefit from gpu overclocking. so what is the rest of your hardware and games you play?
