Hello,

I have written about this already once here, but more strange things have happened since.

So my system specs are here:

Intel Core i5 4590
8 GB Kingston RAMs stock speeds
MSI GTX 970
MSI B85-G41 PC Mate
Kingston SDD Fury 128GB
Seagate Barracude 7200rpm
Seasonic S12II 520W

Now. The freezes have persisted through 2 PSUs, CPUs and MoBos. I have tested the RAM overnight (9 hours) with Memtest, nothing. I checked SMART for my HDD, full health. I wanted to test my IGP instead, but like 2-3 days ago, I changed the SATA cable for my HDD and the problems stopped. But today, a few minutes ago I had another freeze.

I have no idea why. If the GPU was the problem, how come the freezes have stopped? It occured like 5 times a day but not a single time after changing the SATA cable.

Any suggestions? I would be really thankful.

Solution

That sounds right.

You're right, didn't consider the hardware changes.

Knock on wood ...

Maybe that a firmware update could help, not that it's actually broken.Don't know if there's one.

Which Kingston ram? Make sure it's running at rate specs, use cpu-z=>memory tab for the current speed, the spd tab for the rated speed and timings.

Have the latest bios?

Changed the sata cable for the hdd or ssd? Tried to install windows on the hdd,see if this will help? just to see if the ssd has something to do with it.

Running at 1600MHz CL10 as the specs say. It's Kingston HyperX Fury blue

Probably, but I'm not sure. I do not think that it's relevant since it lasted throught 2 MBs and CPUs. I'm gonna check and update if any update is available though,

The HDD one. But since yesterday no more freezes. I really have not idea...

A few people said that it might be the SSD, but I do not really think so, since it's fairly new and the odds of an SSD breaking are far less than a HDD.

Well I updated my BIOS. I will also check any further firmware updates I can possibly find and try to test my HDD and SSD. Thank you.

Well, the problems have stopped for some reason unknown to me and you are the only one that answered. And thank you for the firmware.

EDIT: Turns out I already have the latest firmware installed. The SSD isn't even a year old and the latest update is from 07/02/14.
