I recently purchased a Samsung 850 Evo that I want to add to my build and install a new digital OS on and keep my 1TB HDD for mass storage. What I'm curious about is whether I should download the OS first and then install the new SSD and then install the new OS onto it? The digital copy of the OS I am going to get is Windows 7 Pro.

Solution
Yes, if you already have a disk, install SSD in the computer as the only disk, boot from that disk you have (I suppose it's a DVD disk) and install OS. Just make sure you set SATA port to AHCI mode first.
After finishing OS installation (I suppose it's Windows), connect your HDD and than you can do anything you want with it.

My apologies, I meant a digital download of Windows 7 Pro. I ended up paying extra for a hard copy from newegg simply because it was too hard to trust other software sites offering cheaper versions. So now I'm going to be using disks instead. All I should need to do is install the SSD and then install the disk to that drive yes?

Thanks

I did pretty much everything suggested, except having to change my SATA to AHCI, it was already on that setting. Everything else worked great. I Installed software on ssd then plugged my hdd in and formatted it worked perfect. Thank you.
