Hi,

I am looking at this new processor and it appears to have a "cooling pad" where the cooling paste would otherwise be applied.

I am unsure if this is the case because it is the first time im replacing a CPU. It looks strange to me, so ofc, im looking for yalls input before i do anything lol.

So does anyone know for a fact if the FX 6300 comes with a cooling pad in place of cooling gel? (no paste came with the purchase).

also, i read a few reviews that said people perferred the paste over the pad - is this pad removable? can i apply paste directly onto the pad?

thanks!

That's odd. I have that exact cpu in my media pc, and mine came pre-applied with thermal grease. Anyway, to answer your question, if you feel the need, or the temps are forcing you to, you should be able to just pull that pad off and apply grease as normal. I would recommend using Arctic silver 5, Antec formula 7 (my favorite), or IC diamond thermal paste if you decide to replace the pad. Also, if you're going to repaste the cpu it would probably be a bad idea to leave that pad on there. Good luck!
