i recommend 1440p

4k you would need two 980 ti's to get decent settings in newer games

If you do want 1440p 144Hz then I suggest a 980ti. It is more expensive but you will benefit from the 144Hz with a 980ti but not so much with a 980. With a 980ti I am able to play BF4 on Ultra with 85fps average, and about 15% of the time below 80fps. On the other hand a 980 would probably be around low 70s fps.
