OK so I'm aware I should probably upgrade to LGA1150 or something but godammit I like my Q6600 CPU. Anyway, so currently what is the greatest motherboard for gamimg on an LGA775 socket, with the following components.

CPU - Intel Q6600 Core2 Quad 2.4GHz Processor

RAM - HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1333MHz

GPU - EVGA NVIDIA GTX 750Ti FTW

PSU - Corsair 500W

Hello. You are right, you should upgrade to the LGA1150 socket. The LGA775 is an old socket and in my opinion more expensive to maintain and upgrade it. I can give you a good LGA775 motherboard but I'd still think you'd be better off with LGA1150, so here it goes:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/G31M-GS%20R2.0/

If you reconsider and attempt to go LGA1150, you'd have to change your CPU also, I can leave some suggestions here:

Hyper-threading: http://ark.intel.com/products/77488/Intel-Core-i3-4160-Processor-3M-Cache-3_60-GHz
Turbo-boost: http://ark.intel.com/products/80817/Intel-Core-i5-4460-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_40-GHz

Those are "cheap" in my opinion and would do the trick. For the LGA1150 motherboard I'd pick this:

I hope this was helpful in some way. The decision is yours. Best of luck.

wow. you people know nothing about computers none of the motherboard recommended are good for gaming. the problem it that they all come with a version 1 pcie slot that does not have the bandwidth to support the high-end video cards. this motherboard has a pcie 2.0 slot and i upgraded my brothers system and with a r9 290 video card GTA5 runs at 25% - 40% cpu and ultra settings on for video and runs smooth, with his old motherboard that only had a pcie 1.0 slot and same cpu, ram, and video card GTA5 only ran at the lowest settings and still looked like crap and had frame skips. this is the board we installed. not saying it is the only, or the best but it has pcie 2.0 and that is what matters. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X48TurboTwins-WiFi/

Base Clock Speed: PCIe 3.0 = 8.0GHz,
Base Clock Speed: PCIe 2.0 = 5.0GHz,
Base Clock Speed: PCIe 1.1 = 2.5GHz

Data Rate: PCIe 3.0 = 1000MB/s,
Data Rate: PCIe 2.0 = 500MB/s,
Data Rate: PCIe 1.1 = 250MB/s

Total Bandwidth: (x16 link): PCIe 3.0 = 32GB/s,
Total Bandwidth: (x16 link): PCIe 2.0 = 16GB/s,
Total Bandwidth: (x16 link): PCIe 1.1 = 8GB/s

Data Transfer Rate: PCIe 3.0 = 8.0GT/s,
Data Transfer Rate: PCIe 2.0= 5.0GT/s,
Data Transfer Rate: PCIe 1.1 = 2.5GT/s

last i checked pcie 3.0 is available but not for the core 2 quad motherboards but doesn't really matter because most video cards are only achieving speeds that are within the spec's of pcie 2.0 even if they say they are pcie 3.0 cards.

http://uk.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-EP43T-S3L-rev-14#sp
"1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (The PCI Express x16 slot conforms to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)" It appears you're wrong, the GA-EP43T-S3L (rev. 1.4) does have PCI-E 2.0

Nvidia nForce 780i is one of the best motherboard with 3 pcie slots, but it supports up to core 2 extreme QX9650,but if you want the QX9770,you'll have to move the FSB up to 1600mhz in bios
You could also try Asus P5E.It has 2 pcie slot's but supports the QX9770
Then there's the Asus MAXIMUS FORMULA (NOTE:If you get this motherboard, you will NEED a sound card since there are no audio ports on the back)

The way I would do it is to read up on old webpages where people talked about overclocking their Q6600 back in the day. It won't take long before you notice which motherboards were the preferred ones for that. Then start looking for one of those motherboards. Then overclock your CPU once you get the motherboard.
