What is the most powerful graphics card compatible with my CPU?

Solution
Your asking the wrong question. Your processor is particularly underpowered (see the link provided):

http://www.futuremark.com/hardware/cpu/AMD+A6-5400K/review

You need to tell us what it is you actually want to do, otherwise the answers you'll get will be as meaningless as the question. For example, the most powerful GPU you can get without changing anything else in your system is a GTX980Ti or a Titan Z (if you have the right PSU), but that's a pointless answer as your CPU could never hope to provide anything like the data throughput one of those cards required.

If what your asking is really 'what is the best card to play games on using an A6-5400K processor at 1080p?' then you will get a reasonable answer....

In all honesty I'd...

In all honesty I'd be looking to upgrade your CPU first but to answer what I think is your question, you would not need anything beyond a GTX750Ti given the power of the processor you have.

Amd goes well with Amds GPU's but Nvidia still performes better with the graphics, even though AMD has faster clocks on the GPU and more cores.. I'd go with something like GTX 660 or GTX750, depending on the manufacturer. I'd pick EVGA or ASUS, maybe even MSI.

The hell are you guys talking about? He asked "whats the best GPU to get WITHOUT UPGRADING CPU". So he already got that right.
And who the hell still thinks that AMD CPUs do better with AMD GPUs than Nvidia? You can mix Intel, AMD and Nvidia as much as you want it won't change anything.

To answer your question: if you can find a 7770, you could crossfire that card with your CPU (APU).

@migronesian - Did you actually read what I posted? The OP stated he wants is the most powerful and compatible GPU he can have with without upgrading his CPU. Seeing as he put absolutely ZERO context around that question, I answered him truthfully....are you saying a the two cards mentioned are NOT the most powerful cards you could pair with the CPU mentioned...because you're wrong.

In addition (and given I'm not an idiot), I interpreted his poorly worded question as meaning what is the BEST card he could pair with his CPU...the answer being in my view a GTX750Ti. He makes no mention of any other PC specs so I've taken the fact that the 750Ti does not require additional power from the PSU as the rationale...you don't in your comment!

As for the other part of your answer, I think you'll find that there are a range of limitations that you've failed to mention:

http://www.cpu-world.com/info/AMD/Recommended_graphics_cards_for_AMD_dual-graphics.html

As for the other poster, don't compare what I've stated with anyone else's comments...
