Random shutdowns, not thermal or PSU

My PC keeps experiencing random power loss. This is not a thermal issue because when it is up and running it runs at about 35 degrees. This has been happening for months but the frequency of the power losses changes. Sometimes it will lose power while in bios, sometimes it will get to the desktop before losing power, occasionally it will lose power before post. Once it starts and has been idle for 5 minutes I can sometimes start intense programs (Premiere pro/after effects or Assassins creed unity at Max settings) and it will run fine all day. Idling or using less intensive programs like google chrome or file explorer can cause a loss of power after about 5 - 20 minutes.

Things that I've tried to fix it:

Replaced 750W PSU with a Corsair RM1000W

Stopped using case power switch incase it was causing a short

Swapped CMOS battery

Flashed to latest BIOS

Tried a clean install of windows to rule out any software conflicts (Formatted HDD and then experienced a shutdown half way through windows 8.1 install)

I have a new Mainboard and CPU on the way. If one or both of them is busted anyway, I may as well do an upgrade while I'm at it.

Is there any way a GPU could be causing random total shutdowns? I don't see any video artifacts and the GPU itself seems to be performing fine. Could this be anything to do with the HDD even though after a total format it is still shutting down?

System specs:

CPU: AMD FX8350 with Coolermaster hyper 412 fan
MB: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
PSU: Corsair RM1000W
GPU: AMD r9 290
RAM: 16GB (2x8) Fury hyperX
HDD: 2TB Toshiba
OS: Windows 10
1 Optical Drive and 1 PCI TP link Wireless Internet Card

Since it's a random shutdown without blue screening, I would be inclined to suspect hardware. Since you have already ruled out the PSU (most common), my guess would be the motherboard, as CPU's rarely fail. There's an odd chance that the GPU, a PCIe card or even a USB device could be causing the shutdowns and I would try removing them to see if it makes a difference. Let us know what happens.

I removed the PCIe wireless card and any usb devices besides the Mouse and KB and it is still experiencing shutdowns.
I also tried an old GPU and still experienced shutdown.

I'm replacing the MB and CPU in the next few days. I'll have a brand new HDD on hand while I build the new rig. I'll keep the HDD in its packaging so that if I assemble the rig with the old HDD and it works then I can return the new one (I just don't want to have to go and buy one on Christmas eve and have all the shops closing at strange times).
