Core duo 8600 for Asus p5ne sli board?

I've sent this asked, best processor for the socket t board, but the duo 6600 was recommended.
Will the 8600 run on my asus p5ne board without having to do anything else besides plug and play?

It's plug and play if the BIOS is at or newer than the required version.
