As Tradesman replied, you'd run into troubles with 8gb sticks, at this point the best thing is to get another 4GB stick and take advantage of that triple channel.

I used to just by a new pc every 3 years for like 1500$ then make other one a back up or whatever.

This time i love my case and want to keep it... nxzt phantom and looks like a stormtrooper. It still was running most recent games around 30 fps on high but recently played beta of the division and realize if i want to play pvp games it struggles. So I upgraded from 6950 2gig card to 390x 8gb card, put in a new 200gig intell ssd, and few month back put new corsair radiator and new fans. So ive upgraded alot of stuff.

I understand im limited with 4 year old mobo and intel 960 processor and there might be some bottle necking but trying to eek out another 2 or 3 years with this mobo and power supply.

***after reading up a bit going to stay with 1333 ... ive read over 4gb might be another reason that not reading the memory but not buying that. at one point with the 2 8gig cards plus 3 2gb of old 1333mhz it was showing 20 gigs in windows.

it seems to change when i upgraded my video card this week. which is throwing off the voltage is my guess.

found this for G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory F3-10666CL9D-16GBXL

your advice trademan1, pretty much solidified my thought process on my ram issue. question im asking myself now is should i get 4gb card or 8? or just order the 8 and if doesnt work can always send back.
