Hi All,

I'm looking to purchase a PSU for a graphics card I have coming in the mail, but I'm not very versed when it comes to electrical terminology and whatnot. Could someone recommend a PSU for me? I was thinking something around 750W, under $100 if possible, and fully modular unless it's not worth it with a lower end wattage (since this might be dated in a few years).

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 04G-P4-3967-KR 4GB SSC GAMING w/ACX 2.0+

PSU I'm looking at potentially: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438027

Thank You!

P.S. Crossfire support not needed unless you guys recommend me buying a PSU for the long-haul down the road.

Solution
that one you picked is a poor choice.

use this list to pick one:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

or

this non modular bronze one is much better quality and fine for your needs:

if you really want modular this is the next best pick and goes up from bronze to gold:

(this one has a rebate you have to deal with though)

these are the best 2 deals for the money.

Both of these are awesome answers; thank you!!

I was curious before I go and purchase a PSU, I currently have one that's 530W, non-modular with only 6-pins for PCIe... will a converter that comes with my GPU suffice for power supply, even though it takes an 8-pin??

It's generally better to have an 8 pin rather than a 6 converted to 8. The conversion adds no additional wiring, only extension. It doesn't actually allow more power to run through the wiring. I think 6 pin is 75w 8 pin is 150w. 6 pin converted to 8 is still 75w. Your just tricking your gpu into thinking it is connected right.

This is a very good PSU. It is tier one, fully modular, and 80+ Gold. I have the EVGA GS (slightly lower quality than G2 but still tier one and comes with all the same doo dads) 650w. The PSU is quiet, it looks good, all of the wires come in braided black sleeves, and instead of having to use bread ties for cable management, the PSU comes with little velcro loops that say EVGA on them. And it has a 10 year warranty.

So I ended up going with the EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply that stl522013 suggested after all was said and done, but I'm thinking I have WAY more wattage than I need lol. After doing the math of one CPU @ 125W + one GPU @ 160W + other parts I'm coming to between 350-400W (does this sound correct?) I'm building my girlfriend a PC with the same wattage range, so I'm wondering if I could just go with something like:
