I just a built a PC and I had to bench it. When I put in one stick of F4-3000C15D-16GVR G.skill Ram (8x2 kit) it works fine and posts. When I put both stick in, the motherboard displays Q-code 55. What is this code?
My mobo is an ASUS Maximus VIII Hero and RAM is G.skill Ripjaws V DDR4 3000mhz 16gb (8x2) 15-15-15-35 1.35v part number F4-3000C15D-16GVR

CPU: i7-6700k

Do you have the latest BIOS? What CPU? Are both sticks firmly seated in slots 1-3 from CPU (I've got a set of these I used in my Hero with the 6600K, before I got the 32GB TriZs). Try resetting CMOS, then install and see if they come up, if so can try enabling XMP to get to 3000, if problems with that may need a slight OC on the CPU. If it's not a K CPU may not be able to run at full 3000

When I boot with one stick it posts and goes to the American Megatrends window and detects my keyboard, mouse, cpu and gpu. It tells me how much RAM I have. Once I insert my second stick of RAM, and attempt to power on, it will not post

No the RAM is fine I was putting it in the PC wrong the whole time. I feel so dumb. Everything works fine on the bench. I will now attempt to put everything in the case. All of my ODD's HDD's SSD's and other misc devices work and the PC detects everything

Tradesman1, thanks for your help. You might not know what you did, but your "Bench It!" article made my day!

I was getting this error when my ram wasn't slotted correctly. The board has slots with a vertical sleeve on one side and a latch on the other. So, I would insert the ram, push down on the side with the latch, causing it to *click* into place and the latch to flip up. Nowhere in the instructions or on any forum have I seen this specific mistake. I've seen a few that just say "you're supposed to push down harder".

Anyway, once it latches, you also have to push down on the other side, the one held in the vertical sleeve (no latch). After pushing down, you will hear a click.

This solved the problem for me.
