Recently I have noticed sudden FPS drops in a few of the games I have been playing.

I will begin the game with 80+ frames and after around 15 minutes of game time it will jump down to around 30-35 fps and stay there.

Specs:
i7-4790k
Nvidia GTX 980 4gb
16gb RAM
850W PSU
MSI Z97 MB

I've checked through some of the other threads and thought it may be due to the CPU becoming too hot but it usually stays at 65-70 degrees celcius (around 150 farenheit)

I don't get this problem in all the games I play but it always seems to occur in the more demanding games like Battlefront or Just Cause 3 (yes I know this game has optimization issues)

I have also removed my cpu cooler (hyper evo 212) and cleaned out all the dust in my machine and put everything back to find no difference at all.

Is my CPU just becoming too hot?
I had always thought it works fine as long as its below 80 degrees celcius.

Will really appreciate any help.

Thanks

Hello it could also be your gpu that is getting hot and throttling so i suggest using the tool that comes with msi afterburner to monitor temps and ram usage to see if the game is having a memory leak.

GPU runs at around 65 degrees celcius max. I have found a temporary solution, if I uninstall the display driver then restart to allow windows to install its own driver then install the nvidia driver and restart again, My games tend to run without problems for a day or two but the issue always returns
