Hello , I found a refurbished Asus DirectCU II R9 290X 4gb for 300 euros ( A new Asus Strix R9 380X is 310 euros while an R9 390 is 380 euros ) , so my question is , would a Seasnoic S12II 520 W be enough to hold a R9 290X and an intel CPU (I5 most likely) ? Or should I go for a better one ?

Solution

Oh yeah , excuse me , I am stupid . Hmm , considering the fact the i7 draws more than twice as much power as the i5 does , I think the 520W will be enough for the R9 290X , but I will make a choice once I get the GPU , thank you all for the answers.

Hmm , Sirtec is a pretty popular brand in my country , there is a PSU , Sirtec High Power Element 700W , people are giving it great reviews , someone is able to run an FX 8320 and GTX 770 OC on it , so I guess the R9 290X shouldn't be a problem for it ?

A friend of mine used to own a R9 290X and had a Corsair CX 600W , it ran without a problem . So I guess the CX should be good enough ?

Sirtec rate from mediocre to out right garbage quality wise and are best avoided.

It maybe running now but CXs have longevity issues due to poor quality capacitors and have a high failure rate. I don't imagine your friends system would have been running fine for much longer.

Corsair CX 600w uses weak capacitors, and with a GPU like the R9 290X it could fail on you even in as little as 6 months time. It is not a good power supply.

And Sirtec, also poor. I'm not sure who made High Power Element but if it is the Super Flower one It's ok.

i still stand by my answer that the seasonic 520 is enough. that graph is under max presure setting and still only 291, the rest of his system wont eat up up the other 229 watts cause when on earth has your entire pc ever been fully maxed out all core and and all cept for occtional benchmark "spike" and even then with the he would still have some room to spare under normale condition. 520 sesonics is enough for a 77watt i5 and typical 250watt GPU

Any other PSUs in the price range of a Seasonic S12II 620W that will be enough for the R9 290X?

Well , if i won't be able to find a 620W S12II or a better PSU for the same price I will most likely go for the 520W one.

Sirtec is an actual PSU manufacture not just a rebrander/designer so i'd imagine they make their own units.

XFX models aren't available in my country , neither are the Rosewill ones , I can't find the Antec one and all EVGA models are out of stock... so , Seasnoic is my only option I guess,

Many Antecs are built by Seasonic and Delta and are good quality units. Rosewill does have a couple good series like the Capstone, lightning and tachyon, but most of their other series are low quality and should be avoided. Here'a a link to the psu tier list you want a tier 1 or 2 unit of 600w or larger.

Then I honestly don't know what to suggest. You don't live in India?
